The Harris County Community Services Department (HCCSD) has received a $56 million grant from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) to assist victims of Hurricane Ike in Harris County.  The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds were granted to Texas from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and will be dedicated to Hurricane Ike recovery efforts

HCCSD will use these funds to launch the Harris County Homeowner’s Disaster Recovery Program (HDRP). The program will enable eligible Harris County homeowners to repair and reconstruct homes that sustained significant damage from Hurricane Ike.

For more information on the Housing Program, please refer to the Harris County Homeowner Disaster Recovery Program Overview and/or Frequently Asked Questions.  The Program Overview summarizes the eligibility requirements for the first round of funding, program priorities based on type of damage (severe damage versus high major damage), priority recipient designations (low or moderate income, elderly or disabled), as well as the type of assistance that may be available to the recipient (rehab, elevation, reconstruction).  Frequently Asked Questions provides detail of the program in a question and answer format.
